Track

Description

Developer

The developer track is going to be a look forward to the skills that are required to build secure, high-performance SQL and PL/SQL based applications in 10g and 11g.

Topics we are looking at include:

  • 11g New Features for Developers (Dan Morgan: Oracle Ace)

  • Writing highly scalable code for SMP and RAC

  • Oracle Indexes: Deep Dive (Richard Foote: Oak Table)

  • Profiling PL/SQL

DBA

There is so much to choose from when the conversation turns to DBA issues. Here is our current thinking:

  • Tuning the 11g Database (Jonathan Lewis (Oak Table & Oracle Ace)

  • Implementing Maximum Availability Architecture with new 11g Data Guard capabilities. Especially the use of Data Guard with RAC

  • Effective configuration and deployment of OEM Grid Control

  • Automated Health Management

Fusion Middleware

This is such a huge topic we are working with Margaret Mei Lee and her team at Oracle in Redwood Shores to help us decide. Right now we are looking at the following general subjects:

  • Application Server deployment

  • Identity Management

  • JDeveloper

  • Service Oriented Architecture

Infrastructure

The infrastructure track is being designed to be of interest to IT managers, system administrators, and others whose primary responsibilities are the hardware and network infrastructure on which Oracle databases and applications run.

Topics will be targeted at:

  • Server hardware and operating systems

  • Storage administration and tuning

  • Optimum network configuration

E-Business Suite . . . . . .

We are looking to our partners at OAUG to help us define the topics.

PeopleSoft

Topics and speakers to be chosen by PSNWRUG.

JD Edwards

We are looking to our partners at QUEST to help us define the topics.
Siebel We are looking to our partners at OAUG to help us define the topics.

Hyperion

We are looking for Hyperion users and experts to help us define the topics.

Business Sectors

We are going to have some break-out sessions specifically targeted not to products but to industries. Watch for sessions for:
  • Health Care and Medicine (DICOM)
  • Higher Education
  • Public Sector

Security

Mary Ann Davidson, Oracle's Chief Security Officer is working with us to identify four break-out session related.

Emerging Technologies

Morgan's got his eyes open and will start putting this together after the first of the year.

Topics we have our eyes on include:

  • Oracle Spatial (Hans Forbrich Oracle Ace)
  • Stellent
  • TimesTen In-Memory Database
  • Audit Vault

Compliance

We don't know how to break it to you gently so we'll just blurt it out. 90+% of what you've heard about Compliance has been FUD around Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA. It is time to dig in and get the facts from the experts. We are looking are rounding up the following subject matter experts:
  • A Federal Judge or US Attorney to talk about the law as it is interpreted by the courts
  • An expert on international issues, likely an attorney to talk about PIPEDA (Canada), Basel II (EU), and other country's regulations as they impact US organizations doing international business
  • Someone with courtroom experience, as an expert witness, to talk about the real-world issues faced preparing for testifying and lessons learned
  • An expert from Oracle to help us understand how the various pieces of the Oracle technology stack relate to meeting our compliance needs.

These sessions will be designed to meet the needs of C-Level through project management.
